Areas of Focus
-
Trauma can affect far more than memories. It can change how you respond to stress, relationships, work, sleep, and even how you see yourself. Therapy at Ironwood focuses on processing what happened, reducing the ways it continues to interfere with your life, and helping you build a meaningful path forward.
-
Some experiences are difficult to explain to someone who hasn’t lived or worked in that world. Ironwood provides a place to address trauma, cumulative stress, moral injury, relationships, identity, and the transition between the person you need to be on the job and the person you want to be outside of it.
-
Therapy doesn’t have to mean endlessly talking about feelings without a direction. We can take a practical, straightforward approach to stress, depression, anxiety, anger, relationships, fatherhood, identity, purpose, and the pressures men often carry quietly.
-
You don’t need a major trauma or crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes life simply becomes difficult to manage. Therapy can help you understand what’s keeping you stuck, develop practical ways to handle stress and anxiety, and move through changes with greater clarity and purpose.
Meet Ian
I'm Ian Hobbs, therapist and the founder of Ironwood Counseling. Before becoming a therapist, I served in the Marine Corps and spent 16 years in law enforcement.
Those experiences shape the way I approach therapy: practical, straightforward, collaborative, and grounded in the realities of life outside the therapy office.
